I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See Daggers shifted under the large sized Friesian cross as he made his way through the land. Letting his orbs look all around with where he was going . Taking in a deep breath into thought as he wandered what he was going to do. With a soft smile as he halted at the mouth of where a lot of voices were at. Shifting his face around as it looked as if he was able to see, but no one would dare realize that this silver eyed equine looked like this due to the fact that he was blind and would never be able to see again. Though as he took in a deep breath of air. He made his way down the line of auction pens.
With his thorns perked as he listened to the voices as they spoke of the certain things that were going on around where he moved his pillars. Looking around the place with his thorns as he found himself turning his head to a pen that no one had walked up to yet. Taking in the scent of a mare's figure. No, he couldn't not see the outside of her figure like some equines that are blind could. The only thing he could tell about her was that she had a sweet smell to her. Something that seemed to make things so peaceful. Though she gave of a odd vib. Something that Riddick had yet to feel.
Letting his figure stand tall for a moment as he looked around and let his thorns listen to everyone else talk. Hearing that he was standing at the wrong pen. That that mare was too skiddish to even take home to take care of young or to do work. But with a loud snort. Riddick turned his head and looked over towards the mare with his thorns perked upon his head. "Come now. Speak your name for me please. For I cannot see what your name is." He said softly as he looked over towards her. Since he really could not see one word that was written down on the tabs that they put around in the pens to let you know which horse was which.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] Ebony walked through then pens like she had done so many times before and would probably do again. She was never bought by anyone; not since he last master placed her in the holding pens. Many said that she was too submissive and skittish to do any type of work and she knew that they were right. Ever since her last master, she barely looked a stallion in the eye; much less actually talked to them. The mare had once been a courageous and outspoken equine until she was taught to that to be those things meant certain death. There were countless scars on her legs, back, and neck from the times when she had spoken out. Eventually she had just given up; knowing that defiance would only make it worse in the end.
Even now, in the auctions pens, she believed that no one would ever want her. She was weak and unfit for the most meaningless jobs a slave could do. As she was marched around the ring she heard the snide comments of the buyers; though she paid little attention to them. They were nothing but back ground noise to her as she stepped around the small pen; waiting for them to usher her back into the holding pens.
She flinched when she hear a voice come to her from the outside of the pen. No one ever dare talking to her, so she was startled when the stallion spoke. She looked at him a moment; her head down in a nervous way. She could tell from his coloring and feathered hooves that this stallion was a Friesian or a cross of one at least. "My name is...Ebony...s-sir." It was clear in her voice that she was a bit shy around the stallion. She had stopped moving when the stallion had spoken to her and suddenly felt the sudden sting of a whip as they forced her to move once again. She dropped her head and winced as she started moving forward again; knowing that she would be hit again if she stayed there. It was a rule that potential purchases like her could not stand in one place for too long; otherwise they were likely to get hit as she had just had. They felt that standing for too long made the customers bored.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See He thought it was a bit odd when he spoke to her and she didn't know that he said that he could not see what her name was. That she didn't even question him or probably never thought of just what he said to her. Then her voice came in his direction of her name. Though as he stood there for a moment. He heard her say sir to him and her dagger seemed to come to a halt. With his thorns perked upon his head as he was about to speak back towards her. He heard the crack of a whip shot towards her direction. With that his thorns pinned tight on his head and he rushed over to where the person who whipped towards her was.
Ripping it out of the others mouth and smacking it towards his face. Hearing another loud crack and the sound of the person who had the whip cry out in pain. Spitting the whip from his mug he quickly looked at him with his thorns pinned on his head. "THAT'S ENOUGH OF THAT SHIT!" He said with his thorns upon his head as he looked towards him. Hearing his figure scurrying away and he sound of voices coming around him as he turned and looked at him.
Shifting his head towards one of the auctioneers as they walked up to him. "Sir, You know that you are not suppose to do that. These SLAVES have to keep moving to let all see what they look like." He spoke towards Riddick as if he was a higher up than Riddick. With Riddick's thorns still pinned on his head as he looked towards the auctioneer. "You know what. To save all the trouble from ya'll beating this poor mare to move around in a circle all day. I'll just take her off of your hooves in payment of your worker not listening and trying to start shit." He said with his thorns pinned as he walked up towards the auctioneer with his head held high.
Leaning down and placing his mug near his ears. "You better allow it or their might be some problems happening mighty quick." He said as he shifted his eyes towards him. Letting the sun shine off of his silver colored eyes as he looked at him and then shifted his eyes over towards her as the auctioneer had nodded his head and one of the words came and opened the gate. With that sign he was able to walk into the pen with her. Gazing at her with his head slightly relaxed as the worker locked the gate behind him so that Ebony would not leave the pen.
"I am sorry for that Miss Ebony. My name is Riddick. May I know how you are?" He said softly as he looked towards her. Within his mind he was hoping that she would not notice that he was blind and her think that he is not capable for protecting anyone or even be able to be a knight at that.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] Ebony was shocked when she heard the sudden movement of hooves from outside of the pen. Usually when a slave was struck with the whip the customers would simply smile...or even laugh at the victim, but this was different. The stallion she had been talking to had, not only defended her, but had whipped the slave worker as well. Even though she did not care for fighting, she was grateful to this stallion for his help; even though it might be taken out on her later.
The surprises continued when she seen the stallion yelling at the auctioneer what he had just done. Even before in all of her years as a slave had she seen anyone tell off the auctioneers. It was something that just was not done. She knew, even from her lowly station that a customer never argued with of higher ups around here because it could get you in major trouble. For this stallion, however, he seemed not to care about the consequences of his actions. 'Of course, why would he? It looks like he is bigger and stronger than most of the horses here.' She thought to herself as she watched the scene from the side of the pen.
She couldn't help but chuckle a bit when the auctioneer back down from the stallion's challenge. Her quiet chuckled was met with dozens of angry glares, not at the stallion that had cause the auctioneer to back off, but at her. In their eyes, they felt that SHE was the one that had cause the problem. 'Oh no...I shouldn't have laughed...not I'm going to get beaten for sure.' She thought miserably to herself. He head went low, waiting for her to be hauled away.
Ebony was so sure of her immediate fate that her head shot up when the gate to the pen suddenly creaked open and the large stallion stepped through. She looked at him with a mixture of fear and curiosity. She had never had someone be so interested in her that they would cause such a ruckus. When he spoke again she couldn't help but smile on the inside. She was happy that someone cared even a little bit. Of course those feelings were not show on her face, not wanting anyone else to know that she was happy that he had shown up. "Hello...Riddick...sir." She paused for a moment as she thought about his question. It was true that he flank hurt because of the whip, but should she tell him that or should she leave it to herself. 'If I tell him...there might me more trouble, but what if he gets angry because I lied?' She questioned herself as she quietly pan iced. "I'll be fine sir." He head low and her voice quiet. She was not lying, of course, because she would be fine. It just wouldn't be at the very moment.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See His eyes looked all over at the mare that stood before him. Looking all around her as he made it look like that he was scanning her figure as she began to bring up the words to him as he stood there and looked at her. Though his stare was a bit off and looking as if he was staring off into space, but he did not want it to seem like that, but it was feeling a bit miserably. Shifting his wait as he heard her say sir a million times and say that she would be fine, but Riddick gave off a soft chuckle as he looked into her orbs the best he could.
Motioning his tail lightly as he turned and looked as he heard voices still around him. Throwing his thorns back as he gazed towards them. "Yall can move on." He snapped as he kicked out at the gate behind him. His eyes clinching closed at the loud sound messing with the inside of his thorns. Shaking it off and hearing them all disappear as he turned his attention back onto the mare that stood before him.
"Please, Ebony. You do not have to call me sir. You don't have to act so nervous to me for I am one that you do not have to fear. Please relax and just speak your mind. I know that had to hurt. For it hurt the inside of my ears greatly when that happened." Speaking his terms as he moved forwards and came up beside her. Reaching over and touching her figure slowly and gently as he stood there. "Hm. You seem like a beautiful mare and a very healthy one at that. Why would everyone turn away a beautiful creature such as yourself?" He asked gently as he back up and looked towards her the best that he could. Perking his thorns as he waited for her words. With his nares flaring in and out as he tried to take in the scent of this mare that stood before him.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] Ebony flinched slight as Riddick kicked the gate. She could tell that the stallion did not like the fact that the others were staring and whispering among themselves. She was grateful when they started to leave, though, because it made her a bit more comfortable on being able to truly talk with the stallion before her. She looked at the stallion as he seemed to look her over. It was then she noticed something different about him.
'His eyes...why does it look like they're silver?' She thought to herself as she fought the urge to step close for a better look. Despite the fact that she had been beaten when she was younger; there were still some things that she had to fight to control. Her curiosity was one of the major ones and it had gotten her in trouble numerous times.
"I'm sorry...it's just that-" She paused a moment to gather her thoughts before she continued. ...even since I have been a slave I was taught to always call your masters sir." She finished as she looked at him. She tried to relax, like she knew he wanted her to, but it was hard. After years of abuse it was hard to bury what had been ingrained in her. She did manage to ease up a little bit as she spoke.
"My flank hurts a bit...but it's not the worse I've gotten." She said as she watched him move closer to her. Despite the fact that she had relaxed a bit around him, Ebony could not help but flinch as he gently touched her. This had to be the first gentle contact that she had received from a stallion since she had lived in the wild band with her family. It was almost foreign to her now. "Sorry..." She stated quiet, knowing he probably felt her flinch.
It took her a moment to answer his question, for she barely knew the answer herself. "Well...I guess that it's because no one wants an abused horse as a slave. I am considered unfit for even the meaningless tasks. My former master...h-he believed that f-fear was the only way to control a slave." Her eyes watered a bit as she remembered every brutal detail. "Once he...was done with me...he threw me back in here. I was no longer of any use to him." She finished as she lowered her head a bit.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See He listened to her words carefully as her words rolled into his thorns. Hearing that she was always known to being this way. To call every equine that comes into her presents to Sir or Ma'am. It was a bit disgusting, but Riddick would just have to work that from her the best that he could. Flickering his thorns forwards as he looked towards her with them and not his eyes. "Well, you do not have to do that anymore. I am not your master or anything like that. I am your friend. Here to get you out of this hell hole since no one can treat a beautiful fee....looking mare." He stuttered a bit at the end as he knew that would have given here the hint that he was blind. Which he did not want to do.
Though he could tell just by the small sound of her motions that she wanted to get a closer look into his eyes and figure. Perking his thorns as he heard that her hip did hurt. With a nod and a snort he turned and looked to the sound of the equine that whipped her quickly run from his gaze. "Well, maybe that strike across his face might have hurt a bit worse." He said with another snort as he put attention back onto her figure as he listened to more of her words as he stood there.
"Well you don't have to fear anymore. I give that in my Knight's Honor." He said with a soft smile as he lowered his head to her level as he looked into her direction. "An I can tell that you are bit on the curious side. Go ahead and look at what your trying to look at. I am not going to hurt you. I can promise you that." He said softly to her as he gazed at her with a soft smile upon his face.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] She thought about what Riddick said. Was she really free now? She hadn't even heard the word free since she had been a young filly. Ebony could not help but smile a bit as Riddick said that he was her friend, not master. Thank you...s-Riddick." She said as she almost slipped up and called him sir again. She knew that she was going to have to work on that if she was going to be a free horse.
"You will really take me from here? I won't be a slave anymore?" She asked, her hopes rising as she spoke. She had not once met someone that wanted to help her be free. Sure, she had seen other stallions come in a buy slaves to free them, but no one ever noticed her. She had been invisible to everyone...unless something had gone wrong. Now here was Riddick, saying that he would help her leave this dark place. She was happy...truly happy for the first time since she had been three years of age.
The mare did notice the slight stutter in his voice and looked at him with a cocked head. She did not understand what he had been going to say, but she left is be...for now. Her attention was diverted again when she seen the slave handler run from where Riddick was; obviously afraid that he was going to get hit again. "Thank you for standing up for me...no one has ever done that before." She said as she thought of the Stallion's actions. It was like a dream for her. She was finally being told that she did not have to fear anymore, that she would not be harmed.
Ebony couldn't help but flush in embarrassment as she realized that Riddick could see she was curious. She had not meant to draw attention to the fact that she had wanted to see what was up with his eyes. When he lowered his head down for her, she slowly took a step towards him, still a bit unsure. Slowly she got to the point where she could see his eye more clearly.
'They're like a silver almost...where have I seen this before?' She thought as she tried to remember when she had seen that type of eye before. Then it hit her like a ton of bricks. She has seen her brother's eyes like that after they had--. 'Oh...' she thought in realization. She remembered that when she had first arrived in the holding pens at age three that her brother had been acting rebellious. He had been fighting to stay close to her, so the slavers punished him for it. They had taken his sight. "Umm...R-Riddick...are you...blind?" she asked as she looked at him wide-eyed.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See He looked at her with a soft smile as he noticed that she was about to do it again. Letting his mug reach out towards his hocks as he nipped at them for a moment. Before he lifted his head up and looked at her. Noticing the air around her had changed. She was a bit lighter and more happier than she was when he first came into this place. Which made Riddick a bit happier that she was like this. That she felt so free that she just didn't seem to know how to react to the things that were happening around her. "Yes, I am going to take you from this hell hole and you will never come back here. Though you must stay close. For there are not a lot of equines that would agree on my actions to much." He said as he smile to her.
Using his listeners take in the words of her thanking him. He just gave her a soft nod as he looked into her direction. Feeling ever so happy around this mare. As if she was going to keep him happy with everything that she would do. Wait. Does this mean that Riddick had found the mare of his dreams. Though it could be true. He just did not know what to do with himself. Shifting his weight as he heard her daggers coming towards him.
His eyes looking to where she walked. Moving his eyes just right to where the sun shined right into the silver colored orbs that he had. Listening to her words as she seemed so surprise to the fact that he was blind. He just gave her a soft smile as he lifted his head up slightly as he looked into her direction. "Surprising. Isn't it?" He said with a smile as he shifted his weight into a relaxed motion. "I've been like this since I was born and have learned to use my other senses to replace my sight. Plus I had a great mentor to teach me what I need to know for the rank that I am. For I am a Knight. Surprisingly again. Though that is who I am." Pausing with his words as he turned his head to see what was going on and when he noticed everyone left their pen. He let his orbs look back towards her. "And yes, you can have your doubts that I can't protect you. For you might be shocked on how much I actually can." He said with a soft smile.
Letting his mug reach out and touch her gently. Shifting his figure slowly forwards as he let his mug search her figure. Getting to know her figure in his mind as he slowly pictured her out. "So you weren't kidding when you said you have been a slave for a couple years. All these scars that are placed on your beautifully shaped figure. Makes me wish I could have saved you from this damn place sooner. Though I am new to these lands." He said honestly as he came up beside her and stood there. Letting his head become lower than her's so that she would not think that he was going to harm her at all.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] The black mare listened to what Riddick was saying as he spoke of staying close to him. Deep down, she had known that she would probably staying with him, not out of the fact that she HAD to, but because of the fact that that she felt safer with him. She realized now that Riddick would never harm her and would keep her from being harmed by others. She was thankful to the Gods and Goddesses that they had sent this stallion to her. She most certainly would not be leaving his side.
When he confirmed that he was, in fact, blind she looked at him in awe. Has she never had seen blinded eyes before, she would not have recognized that the stallion before her could not see. "I don't doubt that you can protect me Riddick...If I had not seen what blinded eyes looked like I would have never known that you cannot see." She paused for a moment as she smiled softly. The smiled turned to a frown as she thought of how she knew of what blinded eyes looked like.
"It is because of my older brother that I know what it looks like. When my family and I first arrived here; my brother refused to leave my side...even getting violent because they tried to force him away. As punishment for disobedience...they blinded him." She shook her head as she remembered that day. She had seen her brother shortly after they had blinded him, he had looked lost and almost broken when she had seen him. It had been a dark day in her life.
Ebony could not help but shiver as Riddick muzzle touched her figure. It was still so strange for someone to be gentle around her that she wasn't sure exactly what she should do. "It's alright Riddick...you saving me now is all that matters and I can't thank you enough for it." She said as he referred to her many scars. Yes, she knew that they ran across her pelt, but she never dwelt on it. She never considered herself beautiful anyway...so the scars simply did not matter. She could tell by how low he put his head that he was trying not to scare her and she was thankful for that. Though she was beginning to trust him, she still had a long way to go. 'Maybe I can start a new life...and maybe Riddick can help me...'

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See Thorns perked high on his skull as he listened to her words. Hearing that her brother had come this way, but Riddick had no choice in it. He was brought into the blind life and was teased most of his life. Which he hated, nub thow he did not have to worry about that. Since he had learned the ways that she needed to know and was about to live his life the way that he wanted to.
Though as he stood there in thought. He heard her words that she knew that he would be able to protect her. Though that was true with Riddick's skills that he has seemed to master. For he is able to fight by using the other senses that he owns. Giving her a soft dip of his head as he stood there. "I am glad that you think that my dear." He said with a soft smile upon his mug before heading back into another thought within his mind.
Shaking his skull as he turned his orbs and gazed at her and her words. Glad to see that she was happy that he was there to save her from this life. For he gave her a soft dipp of the head as he looked towards her. "Glad that I was about to save you from this life." He said with a soft smile upon his mug as he looked around to hear that hooves were moving around them again. Which meant that they were heading to a different part of the pens, but Riddick didn't care. He was in his happy place right then and had no plans of walking away.
"Guess we finally get some alone time without worrying about who is standing around us." He said with a soft smile as he shifted the weight of his friesian hooves forwards. Daggers halting at the gate as he felt of the latch to open it. Feeling his muzzle hit it than slowly open with a bump of his nose. Backing up and looking over to her with a soft smile. Wandering what she would do now. Would she run since there was freedom right before her or would she really stay with him and not run awya from where they are.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] Ebony smiled as Riddick spoke. Him freeing her was the most gracious thing that anyone had ever done for her and whether he realized it now or not, she would probably spend the rest of her life showing her appreciation for the act of kindness.
She looked as the other slavers moved on to different pens; purchasing other horses for their slaves. She wished that they could all be freed like she had been, but realized that that would be impossible. There would have to be a huge movement against slavery in order to free all those here. 'With the world being more and more corrupt...it would be hard for a movement like that to come about.' She thought sadly as she looked at the other enslaved. Silently she shook her head to clear her thoughts. She did not want to dampen the mood that she was currently in with Riddick. "I guess that it true..." She spoke quietly as she continued to looked at the fading figures.
It was movement that sudden got the black mare's attention once again. She looked on as Riddick moved to the gate and opened it. Ebony still thought it was amazing that he could move so freely without his sight. It was something that she knew that she would have been able to do.
As the gate opened, her mind told her to bolt; to escape while she could. It was her heart that held her still. She knew that there was no way that she could ever survive out in the wild on her own; not with being a slave for so many years. She wouldn't have been even able to defend herself because she did not believe in violence. Ebony realized that she needed Riddick...she wanted Riddick around. When she the reality that she actually wanted to be around the Stallion; it almost scared her. She couldn't understand why she had grown so close to someone that she had known for so little time.
Pushing those questions to the back of her mind, she cautiously walked forward; still quiet afraid that someone would harm her for moving without being told. When she reached Riddick's side, she allowed a small smiled to appear on her face. "Um...Where are we going now?" She asked as she looked at the black stallion.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See His thorns perked forwards as he listened to her words. Letting his figure motion forwards as he halted outside of the pen. Gazing back to her as he listened to the sound of her daggers making their way over towards her. Feeling the pressure of her figure coming and standing beside him as he stood there. Shifting his head forwards as he looked towards the opening of the Auction Pens. Listening to the words that begin to roll from her mug as she spoke towards him. Asking him just what they were going to do now. For he turned and looked over to her with a soft smile as he stood there. "We are going to get the hell out of here and show you a better side of this place instead of this land that you are use to." He said his terms with a soft smile upon his mug as he had his head in her direction.
Reaching over as he let his mug gently touch her before he lifted his head up and began to walk from the place. Gazing around as he heard the crowd coming back into their direction. Hearing the sound of the voices speaking of the fact that he walked off. An them thinking that she was going to bolt and run into another direction, but Riddick pinned his thorns at their voices. Halting as he turned his head and looked back towards Ebony. "Come dear." He said softly as he looked towards her. Shifting his weight so that he was ready to charge forwards if one of them dared to come into her direction and take her back. For she was his and he was not going to allow anyone to take her from him.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] She nodded to herself as she listened to Riddick. She wondered how much the outside world had changed since she had been free. What would it be like to be able to wander without worry of whips and harm. She really had no true idea of what that sensation was like, but now she would be able to experience it once again.
Ebony looked at the crowed came closer to them. Pinning her ear back, she looked at them fearfully. She wondered if they were going to truly allow Riddick and her to walk out of the slave lands freely. She did not want to fight them, but understood already that Riddick wouldn't allow her to be taken away from him. She couldn't help but smile at that thought. She had never once been protected like she was with this stallion. Yes, her family had tried to protect her, but this was not the same.
As Riddick spoke, Ebony automatically moved knowing that she was safe. "Okay." She whispered as she moved. Though she knew that Riddick was keeping the crowd away; she couldn't help but allow her instinct take over by not allowing herself to turn her back on them.
As she moved she permitted herself to pin her ears at them and snort a bit. The action actually startled the mare a bit, though she did not show it. 'I guess being around Riddick has...already...started to help me become who I once was.' She thought as she looked at the stallion and smiled. She knew that the more time she spent with him, the better chance she would have to regain the confidence and courage that she once had.
"I'm ready...Riddick..." She said quietly as she indicated that she was indeed ready to go. Ebony had decided right that that she was not going to allow her past to dictate her future. She was going to make a better path for herself...one that was not a slave. The entire time that she imagined this new life of hers she realized something important; Riddick was always there in it.
'Yes...that's my new life...' She thought as she smiled brightly. This was not one of those fake or shy smiles...this was a true smile; something that she hadn't done in years.
