1. Either gender/race may fight either gender/race over virtually anything, so long as it takes place in the Styrr's Beach board.
2. Maximum of FIVE posts per person, with only three attacks, and one defense attack total.
3. Players must post the names of the armor or items being used in the battle at the top of their first post.
4. A staff member will judge the fight when it is finished and decide the fate of one or both of the horses involved.
5. If one opponent has not posted in the board for 72 hours, the other opponent wins by default.
6. Terms can be set by challenger if defender hasn't already stated terms.
General Rules About Battles
1. No characters may post the damages due to an attack on their opponent. This is for the opponent's player to decide. See sample thread below for more information.
2. Any player who plays their character as a "superhorse" or powerplays will lose the battle by default. Even with the other players permission.
3. Staff members reserve the right to end the fight if at any time they witness questionable posts, questionable in the sense of disobeying any rules.
4. Any judgements made by a staff member which seem unfair should be reported to Gemini, me, or Cloe for final decision.
5. Out of Character arguments resulting from a battle, judgement of a battle, etc. may result in warning, suspension, banning, or if the argument takes place in the C-Box, the removal of the C-Box. This is a privalege, and should it be abused, this privalege will be revoked.
6. Opponents who do not post for 72 hours will automatically lose by default. If prior notice is given stating that one opponent will not be able to post for more than 72 hours, this rule is disregarded. This will only be accepted as an excuse once, however, and anyone seen to be repeatedly using such a tactic will lose within 72 hours of not posting.
7. A period of one week must be present between one character's fight, and a second fight involving the same character. Note that this only means it is so if that same character starts the fight. For instance, if Horse 1 was in a battle and finishes, they may not challenge another to a battle until one week after the previous fight has ended. If another character challenges them, they are allowed to battle.
Sample Thread
Stallion 1 threw his weight against his opponent in the hopes of forcing him to the ground.
Stallion 2 struggled to keep his feet beneath him as the other stallion attacked, and by some miracle he managed to, and proceeded to smash two hind legs into the enemy. He thought he felt something give way in the stallion's ribs.
At first Stallion 1 thought his ribs had cracked, but it turned out that the damage was not as heavy as previously thought, though he would be sore the next day. He then launched another attack on Stallion 2...
And so on. As you can see here, one character may attack another, but the victim retains the ultimate choice over how badly their character is injured by the attack. However, the victim may not simply make their character invincible by stating that the attack had no damage whatsoever. This is okay so long as it is not used continuously throughout that particular thread. Moderators who spot someone playing their character as "Superhorse" will automatically end the battle and the "Superhorse" will lose by default.
How Fights are Judged
Moderators will judge fights based on the following criteria:
1. Which character sustained what sort of injuries. Note that this does not refer to the severity of the injury, but rather its location. I.E. if a character recieves a blow to the underside of the stomach, it is probably going to be more hindering than one to the base of the tail.
2. The variety of the characters' attacks. For instance, a character who uses the same attack repetitively stands a lesser chance of winning than does the character who uses a new attack in each post.
3. The creativity/originality of the attacks. Keep us moderators interested by making your battle tactics new and exciting. It is tiring reading battles where the same attacks are used as in other battles, so one who comes up with more original methods of fighting stands an increased chance of winning.
4. The overall skills of the player. One who uses proper grammar, punctuation, does not ABBREVIATE words such as "you" with "u," etc. will be easier to read, and thus more likely to win. Furthermore, this allows players to understand that their posts could use some improvement, and helps them to perfect their skills. If a player seems to be losing battles persistantly, they might want to check out the RPing Lessons board.
Keep in mind that just because a person meets all the criteria described here does not guarantee a win. Occasionally there will be times when an 'upset' of sorts will occur, and the person who does not meet the criteria will win. Overall, just keep these guidelines in mind when posting.
As posted in the Rules board, battles between characters will be judged based on a point system. On a scale of 0 to 10 with 0 being the lowest/least, and 10 being the highest/greatest, moderators will judge the following in each battle:
The Damages Sustained by each character in EACH attack.
The Damages Given to the other character in EACH attack.
The Creativity/Originality of EACH attack made by each character.
The OVERALL Variety of the attacks made by each character.
The OVERALL Skills of each player.
These points will be added up at the end, and whoever has more points wins the battle.
Example Scoring
Horse One played by Player One:
Attack One:
Damages Sustained: 5
Damages Given: 4
Creativity/Originality: 6
Attack Two:
Damages Sustained: 2
Damages Given: 3
Creativity/Originality: 1
Overall:
Variety of Attacks: 5
Skills of Player: 6
To do the mathematics, follow the procedure below.
1. Add up the total points in Damages Sustained.
2. Add up the total points in Damages Given.
3. Add up the total points in Creativity/Originality.
4. Add the point value found in STEP 2 to the point value found in STEP 3.
5. Add the Overall Variety of the Attacks to the Overall Skills of the Player.
6. Add the point value found in STEP 4 to the point value found in STEP 5.
7. Subract the point value found in STEP 1 from the point value found in STEP 6.
8. You've now arrived at the total score, and can repeat for the second player to find out who has the higher score.
9. If either player had armor or special abilities for the characters, check THE FOUNDRY or THE POTIONS SHOP for the number of PROTECTION POINTS that come with each. The total number of protection points must be ADDED onto the result of number 8.
Keep in mind that any instances of POWERPLAYING, SUPERHORSING, or any other questionable actions will result in ONE point being SUBTRACTED from the final score FOR EACH OFFENSE MADE. Also, only THREE pieces of armor are permitted PER INDIVIDUAL BATTLE, and potions may only be used ONCE, aka in one single battle, on only ONE character.
2. Maximum of FIVE posts per person, with only three attacks, and one defense attack total.
3. Players must post the names of the armor or items being used in the battle at the top of their first post.
