The Ranks
Gods
The immortal overseers of Feyllia, each possess gifts or powers that they can choose to use on the mortal horses. There are good and evil Gods and Goddesses. The High God and the Mother Goddess are the two sole creators of Feyllia.
If anyone has any more ideas for these, please PM a staff member.
Kings
Each King reigns over his own domain, the only other horse that rivals his power is the Queen. The king dictates everything that happens and occurs within the herds including rules, ranks, and members. He is either adored or loathed by many no matter how good or bad a king he is. To get the rank of King, a lower ranked horse must challenge and fight the current King.
Queens
The Queen is the alpha mare, top of of the herd. She is usually a fancy or mate of the Queen but not in all cases. She can rule equally alongside the King, rule above the king if it was decided so, or not at all. She too is in charge of the safety and well being of the herd.
Knights
Knight have the duty of defending the herd of which they take residence. Majority of knights are stallions although there are rare occasions the deities decide to appoint a mare. To be a knight is an achievement not easily accomplished. Training for a knight takes three years from start to finish. Usually training does not start until a foal is a year old though there have been exceptions depending on abilities and such.
The Old Code is one of complete honor that horses of this generation do not practice anymore unless they were taught specifically by a currently retired knight. If you would like to learn more about the Old Code, PM a staff member.
Nobles
These are the horses that make up the core of every herd. They have noble blood racing throughout their veins. Though some noble horses can be freed slaves it is a rarity that seldom happens. Nobles have free reign of the slaves and can pick up as many as they wish with the permission of their King or Queen.
Masters
Masters can work in a herd of their choice and chase down slaves as instructed or they may not be part of a herd and snatch slaves for the guards. These horses tend to be extremely stoic and heartless, only looking out for themselves.
Guards
These horses do not settle down to live anywhere for they keep the slaves in line until the masters come to sell them. These horses are not very respected although they have this job because they aspire to be a Knight. Next to no guards become knights though, many leave the job to their offspring and so it continues for generations
The Elite Guards are the guards that labor in the prison and are actually respected by their peers.
Slaves
Slaves are the mud underneath the sand of the lake. They are owned by whoever can catch on and keep them and are forced to do their master's bidding or risk serious punishment. Masters and nobles are the most common owners of slaves but when the rare occasion that a King or Queen would prefer a slave they are referred to as 'High slaves' and are the most respected of slaves. But that's not saying much.
High Priests/Priestesses
These four horses rule the three temples together with an iron hoof. They are expected to be treated with the utmost respect, even by Kings and Queens. They consider themselves completely owned by the Gods.
They are 'chosen' two different ways, the first being that the Gods themselves have chosen them into their high status. The second is an unanimous vote by all the priests and priestesses.
Priests/Priestesses
These are horses who have devoted themselves to serving the Gods. They are peaceful and cannot harm any living creature. They have their choice of which Temple they serve in and are free to go from one Temple to the next. They belong to no one and only answer to the Gods and the High Priests and Priestesses.
Not just any horse can become a Priest or Priestess though, much like the Knights, they go through three years of training. However, if a foal is interested in becoming one, they only have three months to decide. Any other horse must be at least four years old and have had at least four signs from the Gods before they can start training. (pm god owners if you would like your characters to be priests/priestesses.)
Gods
Loners are horses that do not belong to a herd, are not slaves, and are not priests/priestesses. They are free and wild, with no one to answer to but themselves. Though be careful because masters can snag you and transform you into slaves.
