Neytiri
Hooves pounded the ground filling the air around the mare with dust that coated her dapple grey hide. Racing was just a part of who she was and she would never stop trying to race the wind. She loved the feel of the wind tearing at her mane and tail, trying it's best to remove the golden eagle feather from her mane as she galloped. She neighed and squealed with joy, not caring who listened or judged. This was what being free was all about.
Her own lands treated her harshly but she knew how to survive with excellence in them. Neytiri partolled her grounds regularly just in case some slave or foal or whoever had wandered into the desert with no idea how to find water. Water was precious out here in her territory. In fact, she needed some water soon herself. She had just changed direction when her nostrils catch the scent of horses, distant but definately within her territory.

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] The air was hot and dry, almost stiflingly so, as Ebony picked her way through the harsh desert like area around her. She was tired at thirsty, but knew that she could not stop. Even though she had no clue to where she was, she knew that they had to keep going if they were going to find water.
The black mare snorted softly, doing her best to get the dust out of her nose as she walked. Being a black equine in this environment was not a good situation. Her coat seemed to absorb the suns rays even more that it would have for others. She glanced at her companion and realized that he was in the same situation as her. Like Ebony, Riddick was black as night and most likely was as hot and tired as her.
She almost missed the beach with the salty water. At least there, there had been a cool breeze coming off of the water. Here was nothing like that. It was as if the wind stopped totally.
She looked at Riddick again, worried etched in her features. Even though she had only known him for a short while, she cared for him. Ebony had already realized that the feeling was not one of a friend or relative...this feeling was totally different and foreign to her. It was this feeling that caused her to worry about him. "Are you alright Riddick?" She asked as she lightly touched his shoulder. She was immensely proud of herself for now being able to do that; it was such an improvement for her.
Just as Ebony was about to speak again, a scent filled her nose. It was the scent of a horse that she did not recognize. Pinning her ears slightly she stopped and looked around. "Do you smell that?" She asked her stallion companion as she listened for signs of the stranger.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See He took in a deep breath as he could feel that he was definitely in a different part of this world that they were in. The air showed all the signs of hot and Riddick's sense chart was going every where. This place just seemed to make his mind run wild in thought. Unsure of just what they were going to run into. With his thorns perked upon his head as he let his muzzle reach over and make sure that Ebony was near him. With his thorns perked high as he listened to the things around them. letting his mind get control of himself and thoughts run crazy within his head. Moving forwards as he caught the soft sound of daggers in the distance.
Then he turned when he heard Ebony's words coming into his thorns. Perking his ears as he turned and looked over towards her with a soft smile upon his mug when he felt her touch. Letting her words soak into her mind as he walked beside her with his head semi to the ground as he was trying to keep himself low and cool as he walked. Then the scent of the other equine hit his nostrils at the same time that it hit Ebony's, but he could tell a bit more about this equine. Telling that it seemed like a mare coming towards us and coming at a quick pass at that. Shifting his weight as his head rose up and his thorns a bit relaxed as he looked forwards.
His muzzle reaching over and touching the top of Ebony's neck as they walked. "Perk those ears love. This equine we are coming towards does not seem to want to harm us. For it seems like it might be the lead by the sound of her hooves that are making their way towards us." He said as he pulled his figure into a halt. Reaching over and touching Ebony gently. Turning his figure and heading down a bit of a slanted hill that was within the desert that they walked upon. Feeling the bit of shade that he was in seeming to cool him off as he turned his head and looked up to Ebony. "Come down here beautiful. Let us wait for it seems a bit cooler down here." He said as he stood there and let his orbs turn towards were the equine should be coming from.

Neytiri [/u][/size] It's my life It's now or never I ain't gonna live for ever The Queen galloped until she was in sight of the two horses who where so black that she knew the heat would be rolling off of them, making it so they needed water quicker then a light colored horse in this desert. She slowed just enough to size each horse up before she got close enough to be in hearing distance. One was a stallion and the other was a mare. Good." Neytiri thought. Once she was close enough to be within hearing distance, she slowed again to a trot that became a prance suited to her wild nature yet precise enough for the two horses to see that she meant business and expected to be treated rightly suited to her station as a Queen.
"How goes it? You two must be thirsty, come, follow me to the water. We will talk more once we get you hydrated." The mare said, the paint on her hindquaters standing out now that she had slowed down enough to shake most of the dust off of her hide. "Come." Neytiri urged gently yet firmly, determined to get these horses to the water source in her territory. The mare looked slightly frightened and the stallion... was blind! Insteresting. Neytiri thought. "What are your names? I am Neytiri the Banshee, Queen of the Tribe of Siren Maidens and this is my territory." [/blockquote]

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] Ebony looked at Riddick as he touched her neck. Relaxing her ears and stance, she followed Riddick to where he was going in the shade. It was a bit better down there, but not so much. She snorted again as dust irritated her nose.
She watched as the stranger, a mare she noticed, came closer. With the stranger being a mare, Ebony felt more at ease. She did much better with mares that stallions. Of course this stemmed from the fact that she had been abused by a stallion when she had been a slave. Now days she did not like or trust stallions being around her. Riddick was the exception to this rule. Ebony cared for Riddick because he had saved her from her former life. That and the fact that he was kind and gentle made her able to be around him.
As the stranger said to follow the stranger to water; Ebony nodded her head. Gently touching Riddick's withers, she started forward to follow the mare. "Thank you...we have traveled a long way and have yet to find any source of water." She said as she walked. It was clear that she felt a bit more comfortable around the mare because she was able to talk and act in a more confident way.
When the mare, Neytiri, introduced herself Ebony bowed her head slightly. Now that she knew that Neytiri was a Queen, she wanted to make sure that she did not offend her unintentionally. "My name is Ebony, you Highness, and this..." She looked at Riddick, hoping he did not mind that she introduced him. "...is Sir Riddick." She finished as she made sure to point out Riddick's Knight status; feeling that it was probably important. "We do not mean to intrude on your territory." She added as she looked at the Queen.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See Orbs gazed as best as they could. Hearing the sound of an equine coming in her direction. Flickering his banner as it felt as if trouble was heading in their direction. Listening as he caught the sound of daggers getting closer and closer towards where they stood. His head coming around and letting his mug touch Ebony carefully as he stood there. Something told him that his life was about to change. Besides the fact that he had found himself a mare that was worth being at his side. Gazing towards the sight of where this equine was coming from again. Thorns falling back slightly when this equine halted before them. Hearing her words as they wrapped around his mind. Turning his gaze back over towards Ebony as she began to talk.
With his muzzle reach out and touching her gently as they began to move forwards. For his body had grown very weak. His body walking forwards along side Ebony. Letting his muzzle rest upon her withers as he walked with her. Glad that Ebony had gone and spoke everything. For Riddick knew that he would have said something to have pissed this other equine known as Neytiri off. Shaking his head lightly as he gave a soft nod, but continued to motion his figure forwards over the terrain. Gazing around as he wandered just where they were going to end up at as they walked over the land.

Neytiri [/u][/size] Neytiri nodded in understanding and quickly replied, "There is no need for all of that Highness nonsense, you may call me Neytiri. I may be a Queen but that doesn't mean I have to actually be one, all I have to be is a leader of my Tribe." She felt like she had to nip that one in the butt very quickly before she got irritated with that name. Her voice softened slightly, ever so slightly, "There is no need to apologize about wandering onto my territory, all are welcome as long as they respect any and all mares, especially my mares. And no horse should be denied fresh water in a desert." Neytiri was a very direct horse, most horses, especially the stallions didn't usually like that about her but it was how she came to be where she was today. She never lied and was also brutally honest.
She also dipped her head, even though she knew Riddick would not be able to see it, it was a force of habit when ackowledging someone's position. "You are very admirable Sir Riddick for doing all the training you have done and become the horse that you are today while not having sight. I greatly admire and respect that and would be hope that I would be given the honor of hearing you tell your story one day, Knight." And this was the point where most of the other stallions from the other herds would have been so utterly shocked the the Banshee, the mare that had gone against normal ways, had spoken so highly to a stallion. Neytiri had no qualms with stallions as long as they treated mares with respect, once that was gone though, all hell broke loose from her.
Neytiri had just rounded the bend of rock formations that the water was located at. "And here is the only source of water in my territory when the rain reason is not in. I hope that you two enjoy, it's perfectly safe. Go on, drink up and drink well." She stood out of the way so that the two darker horses would get thier water and while she watched them, she noticed that the mare had scars on her legs and back. She was not suprised. "So, Ebony, how long have you been a freed slave? I take it that Sir Riddick was the one that freed you, yes?" [/blockquote]

[glow=black,6,400]Ebony[/glow] Ebony felt Riddick rest his muzzle on her withers as they walked. She could tell that he was very tired, so she hoped that they would get to that water source soon. She made sure to walk at a pace that Riddick would be okay with and watched out of the corner of her eye in case he got too tired.
When Neytiri told her to drop the your highness title, Ebony simply nodded. She could tell that the mare before her was very direct and straightforward. Ebony had to admit that that was something she was happy about. After dealing with horses that promised her a better life with all their fancy words and lie to her in the end; it was nice to see someone speak so brutally honest. "Some leaders would disagree with offering water to horses not in their herds." She said as she listened to the mare speak. It was true that there were several herds that would, most likely, chase you off for trying to find water in their territories. Of course these herds tended to be cruel, but it still happened.
She smiled at Riddick when Neytiri spoke to him about his training. It made her happy to see that someone did not look down on him for being blind nor believed that he couldn't possibly be a Knight. She knew very well he ability to protect those he cared about; having been protected by him in the past.
When Ebony seen the small water source she sighed in relief. She had not had a the chance to drink any water for a while and was glad that Neytiri had lead them here. Being a former slave, she had been used to going without water for a while but the time in the desert had taken its toll on her strength. She walked to the water's edge and leaned down to drink. Feeling the coolness of the water hit her lips was a blessing in itself. After a moment, her head came up and gently touched Riddick's face; knowing that he needed water as much as her.
The black mare looked at Neytiri as she spoke of Ebony being a slave. It was only a mild surprise that the queen had recognized what her scars represented so quickly. "I have been a freed slave for a short while...only a few days I believe." She tried to think back to when she had been a slave and it seemed like an eternity now. Her life had changed so much in those few days that she barely recognized herself anymore. "Yes, it was Riddick that freed me. I was put up for auction and he happened to be there. He saved me from being beat from one of the Slave handlers." She said as she smiled at Riddick. Who knows what would have happened to her if he had not been there to take her from all of that? She could have very well spent the rest of her life being tortured and abused. She would never be able to repay Riddick for his deed.

I May Be Blind RIDDICK But I Know How to See Daggers shifted into the sand. Orbs gazing around with his thorns perked high above his skull as he let his figure follow behind. Listening to the words that this Neytiri spoke. Hearin her say a bit of a sturn words towards Ebony. Oh how that pissed him off just a bit, but he was so tired that he did not say anything just yet. Continuing to follow beside Ebony with his muzzle upon her as he listened to this other mare talk. Letting his daggers continue to move forwards before he heard the mare speak towards himself. His head lifting from Ebony and looking towards the voice. Perking his thorns as he listned to what she had to say towards him. Glad to finally hear it from a leader that he was a good knight even though he is blind as it gets.
His skull giving her a thank you nod as he walked forwards. For his body was so weak at this point that he really could not speak. He was saving his energy for the walking towards the watering hole. Gazing over towards Ebony as they finally making it to the sight of the water that was promised to them. Motioning himself closer to the water as he moved his mug away from Ebony. Letting his skull drop till the water touched his nose. Smiling as he let his lips soak up as much water as he could get while he closed his eyes. Letting his head lift up slowly and come on the side of Ebony where she stood between him and Neytiri.
With his head drapping over her side as he looked over towards this leader mare. His thorns taking in the words that this mare had gone to ask Ebony. Soaking them in as she had asked if Riddick had saved her. For he had and was proud of it. Letting his figure move up a little to where his head was drapped over her withers and touching her other shoulder as he listened to Ebony speak towards Neytiri. "I saved her only because she deserved it. I don't care that she has scars upon her figure or the fact that other's say that she is too weak. She is a perfect mare who did not deserve the life as a slave and so I got her out there and got to beat a couple slave handlers while I was at it and I got the chance to stand up to the damn auctioneer." He said with a loud snort as he lifted his head and arched it lightly. Letting his mug touch her withers as he pinned his thorns upon his head as he looked into the nothingness that was around him.
"And no one will dare take her away from me either." He said with another loud snort as he struck his dagger into the sand. Feeling the sand fly all around him as he looked towards Neytiri with his thorns. Waiting to see just what she was going to say towards him.

Neytiri [/u][/size] The dapple grey mare tossed her head just for the fun of it, she was enjoying this company, even if it was only for a little while. Neytiri nodded towards Ebony, understanding what the other, darker mare was saying and agreeing completely. It was completely unnessecary for horses to die from dehydration when water was free for all, including the slaves. She looked down on those horses cruel enough to deny others their rightful needs to survive.
The Queen waited for each horse to have their fill of water and enjoyed just seeing the two horses get their strength back just from one drink of water. She then bent her head down herself and was also relieved when her muzzle brushed the water, even if it wasn't exactly cold, it certainly was cooler then anything else in the desert heat and dust. The mare then gulped down a couple mouthfuls of water, quenching her thirst and replenishing her body with the water it needed for the day. Neytiri had been out in the desert for long enough for her body to know that this could possibly be the only time she would get water during that day. Which was excatly why Neytiri had been so adament about these two horses getting water when they could.
She raised her muzzle to the air once more and looked at Ebony and Riddick standing together, his neck over hers and looking directly at her. "That is excellent news, Ebony, that you are a free horse." Neytiri looked at the Knight carefully and said calmly, "Easy there, Sir Riddick, I was not meaning offense. I just know a slave when I see one. It always gives me great pleasure to see slaves freed and I am glad that you gave the handlers what was coming to them." She said with a slight chuckle. "No horse should be treated badly just for whatever ridiculous reason others decide." [/blockquote]

Ebony listened to Riddick speak and felt as he draped his head over her shoulders. She felt protected and safe when he did that short of thing. She knew that the stallion got defensive when it came to her...not that she really minded it. She knew, however, that it could offend the wild queen before them. To quell Riddick's probable temper, Ebony gently turned her head to him and nipped on his shoulder affectionately; her own way of telling the stallion to be nice. 'I would never allow myself to be taken away from him...not even if the Gods, themselves, demanded it.' She thought as she turned her head back to look at Neytiri.
It made the black mare glad to see that Neytiri did not hold Riddick's comments against him. "Thank you Neytiri...I am glad to be away from that place as well." She said as she dipped her head slightly to the other mare. She was excited to be free; especially with Riddick at her side.
"Yes he certainly gave the handlers a lesson...they ran from him after that." She said as she smiled in Riddick's direction. She knew that even if he couldn't see her smile at him, he might be able to feel her happiness that she felt for him.
She agreed with Neytiri as the mare said that no horse should be treated badly. She had always felt that all horses, no matter who they are or where they came from, should be able to live a free and happy life. "I agree. All horses should be treated well...even if we were born wild or don't have the best pedigrees." She said as she nodded her head. Ebony was beginning to like this mare. It was nice to be able to talk freely with another mare; something she had not done in a while.

His eyes looked over towards Ebony as he stood there with his thorns flickering about on his head as he listened to her words and then to Neytiri’s as they came into his direction. Flickering his thorns as he looked over towards Ebony again. His figure standing close to her. His muzzle resting upon her spine as he stood there and listened. Giving the queen a nod of his skull as he stood there. Perking his thorns as he was ready to take charge and find some shelter for his love so that she would be safe and sound. So he turned his attention over towards Neytiri. ”I don’t mean to change the subject, but Neytiri can you please let us remain here. For I had you my knightship that I will help guard these lands. For I know that Ebony would be safe here and that is all I want for m’lady. Please may we stay here so that I can keep my dear Ebony safe from harm?” He asked as his thorns perked forwards. Knowing that Ebony was happy with all of his work, but Riddick didn’t think he was doing his job completely right. For he needed Ebony to be safe and something told him that staying at this herd would guarantee her safety.
Though through all the thinking and talking that they were having Riddick did not realize that the sun had hidden behind a cloud at that point and then all of a sudden shot out and straight into his globes. His head falling quickly to Ebony’s side as he stood there. Closing his eyes for a moment as he shook his head lightly. Yes, he had been traveling in the sun for a while, but his forelock had been hiding the secret that he was trying to keep between Neytiri and himself, but did not seem to be working at this point. Seeing that Styrr’s gift was a bit of a burden at this time of the day. The sun had shot right through his forelock and into his eyes. With Riddick’s mug moving up to Ebony’s ears as they stood there. ”We must find shade love. The sun…” He whispered into her thorn so that only she could hear what he said. He did not want Neytiri to know his secret just yet. He wanted to gain her trust before that was to happen.
